eTip: Networking Well Does Not Involve Gossip

People like to network with others they like and trust, and gossip is detrimental to relationships.

Networking well does involve the sharing of facts and information. But one needs to be discreet about the information that is being shared.

What is gossip? Gossip is the reporting of personal or sensational facts about others.

It is one thing to learn what others are doing, to learn the good and not-so-good. It's another thing to only talk about the not-so-good things others are doing.

We all have shared in listening to gossip. Gossip can be sensationally inticing, and it can spread like wildfire because people will exaggerate gossip to garner more sensationalism.

If you like to gossip, people will eventually learn to not trust you. One way to quickly lose friends and people within your network is to become someone who cannot be trusted.

If you like to gossip, please stop. Discover another creative form to release your need for sensationalism, and learn to be discreet with information.
